organizing my nail polish obsession

i have been wearing nail polish for as long as i can remember.  i love it and wear it every day.

over the past couple of years, my collection has grown a lot and i was running out of room in the previous storage solution i had...

it couldn't even contain it all!

i went on a hunt at Target to find the perfect storage solution.  i had Starla helping out and she found this container...

typically it looks like it is used for crafts, but this was perfect!

on the bottom, i put my cotton balls, nail polish remover, and tools.

on the top, i put all my nail polish and arranged it by color and types, and my files.

after using this a few times, i realized that it was easier to arrange it with the nail polish on the bottom and my remover and such on the top.  this is because i can leave the nail polish part of the container on the shelf in my bathroom cabinet, and just remove the top to carry with me.

the reason i chose this solution is because i wanted a container i could move around.  i always do my nails while i'm watching TV, sometimes in the kitchen, the living room, or our bedroom.  i saw a million different great ideas on pinterest, but none of them worked for me.

eventually i would like to add some dividers, so things stay separated.  i already have the nail polish separated by color, but would love them all divided out.

High Five For Friday!

I'm very excited for what we are going to be up to this weekend!  This week we didn't have too much going on.  It's been so nice to have some time during each day to get things done around the house, so I can actually keep up for once!

 1.  Poor Stella hurt her eye!  Not sure what she did to it, but pretty sure she had a scratch.  Even though it was sad it was pretty cute with her either doing a long wink or squinty eye.  Happy to say that it is all healed!

 2.  Starla and her friend Beth came over yesterday for game day.  We played 2 different games, Pandemic and Dominion.  Pandemic was really fun and definitely different because we were working as a team to win the game.  Dominion was a card game where we were playing against each other, but was still different because there were different ways to play it.

3.  I watching a really interesting documentary called "Forks over Knives."  My acupuncturist recommended it to me and I really enjoyed it.  I don't know if we will cut all meat out of our diet but I will definitely be making an effort to eat less meat (I already am dairy free).  I think the movie is definitely good to check out for anyone who is suffering from chronic illness.  I know for my GERD (acid reflux) I think it might help to cut some of the meat out.

4.  I started on herbs today, and they make me want to puke, but hopefully they are doing what they are supposed to!

5.  I couldn't wear nail polish to my appointment yesterday so I was SO happy when I got home and was able to put some on.  I went all out and did a french manicure!  Turned out pretty good and I'm loving having fancy nails :)

Amethyst

I really want spring to be here already!  So in anticipation of spring, I bought some fun spring colored nail polish, of course.
On my nails it looks a little blue in the picture, but it's not, it's a beautiful purple.  It's a fun color!

nails

I got some amazing nail polish from my mom for Christmas.  They are called Nailritz and have tiny tips so you can make fun designs on your nails.  I had never heard of these but love to do designs.  I saw an awesome picture on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try myself.
Love how they turned out!

nails

I have been thoroughly enjoying my few days off before I need to buckle down and study for finals.  It has been amazing to not worry about homework for a day or two!

Anyways, for as long as I can remember, I have always been a huge fan of painting my nails.  I can't remember a time where I didn't wear nail polish.  So here is my latest nail color.

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan.  I picked the color (Sugar Daddy, by Essie) cause it was a light pink, but instead my nails looked the same color as my skin.  Looks a little funny!  It would be a good choice if I could do french nails, but I'm not a long nail type of girl.  I think they are WAY harder to keep nice when they are long.  At least for me, they chip really bad, and the nail polish doesn't stay on as long.  Oh, well!  Better luck next time.  I got a dark red color from Essie that I'm going to try next time.  I'm sure that'll look awesome, especially for Christmas.
